Surf School

The Peruvian north has extraordinary conditions for the practice of water sports, especially those that depend on the perfect waves and even winds. The practice of surfing in Mancora is almost a religion: from small local children to older people from Lima who live here in front of the warm beaches of northern Peru.

Most of the more than 20 different points on the beaches of Piura and Tumbes are left waves, most perfect when they are in windy conditions and flood direction is the perfect.

Waves and Floods
Both summer floods (between November and April, North and Northwest wave direction), as well as winter (May to October), South and Southwest wave direction allow to surf specific beaches for each direction of waves; most of the year there are waves in Mancora and nearby beaches. It is for this reason it is difficult to recommend or assure that this or that season is the best to surf during the year. Some beaches, such as Lobitos, work best with floods south from April to November and on the other hand, in summer (between November and April) beaches like Los Órganos and Cabo Blanco are exceptional. Mancora on the other hand receives both summer and winter swells, resulting in a very long reef break, with several sections. Tourism and the quality of the wave have made Mancora usually with an average of 15 to 25 people in the water, many apprentices, other surfer more experienced and a strong dose of local surfers.
The waves in the area never exceed 3 meters and in general the surfers come to this piece of shore looking for more perfection than wave size. Cabo Blanco, in a small fishermen's cove (35 kms south of Máncora), and is considered the point where the most incredible waves of all Peru are found, in this place, you can easily find perfect tube waves and surfing at the beginning to end Mancora is usually between 1 and 2 meters. Waves such as Panic Point (Cabo Blanco) and El Hueco (Lobitos) are the most aggressive and can reach up to 3 meters in size with days of perfect waves: long and magical tubes
